USA BMX On FloBikes

As the gates begin to drop in 2025 at midnight tonight, some of you might notice tracks continuing to run a Transfer System for 4-8 rider classes. Certainly, our ultimate goal is a complete migration to the Total Points System and many tracks have already made the switch or are eagerly preparing for the transition in January.&nbsp; While this system brings significant benefits, we recognize the logistical challenges of running Total Points events, especially at the national level, and we are planning ahead to manage the increased demands of award distribution.
Some tracks have expressed the need for additional time to transition fully. In response, the 2025 version of the Race Manager software will continue to include a variation of the Transfer System. This option allows tracks to offer Transfer System motos with customary transfers, while implementing a process for non-transferring riders. These riders will receive a finish ranking and last-place points, but will not participate in the main event. For example, a class with 4 riders will transfer 3 riders to the main event, but the rider who did not transfer will receive 4th place points. This maintains parity between tracks running either system to keep the points system fair for all riders.
Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our membership, we anticipate a significant shift toward Total Points events across tracks. However, the Transfer System option remains available for those who prefer to offer it at their events.

What is happening with the Stay to Save Program?
Since the creation of the Stay to Save Program, only about 30% of National attendees have used it, and recently, the numbers have dropped even further. While we understand that some were happy with the program, almost 70% of National attendees were saving more money by booking out-of-block hotels and paying full price for entry fees.&nbsp;

USA BMX Launches New National Pricing And Hotel Program

The annual USA BMX Race for Life campaign has wrapped up its 2024 fundraising efforts with outstanding results, securing an impressive $272,895.97 for the Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Society (LLS). Launched in 1981, the Race for Life series remains an enduring tradition for BMX riders across the United States and Canada, combining the thrill of BMX racing with the noble cause of supporting those affected by leukemia and lymphoma. This year&rsquo;s campaign once again highlights the extraordinary commitment of the BMX community to making a real difference in the lives of others.
 
The history of Race for Life began with a boy named Todd Kingsbury, a BMX enthusiast from Waterford Oaks BMX in Michigan, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite battling this disease, Todd never lost sight of his dream of becoming a top pro in BMX. Inspired by Todd&rsquo;s fight, the American Bicycle Association and Todd&rsquo;s friends decided to support him in what they called his &ldquo;Race for Life.&rdquo; Since then, the Race for Life has grown into an inspiring annual fundraiser, with thousands of riders across North America joining in to help others like Todd.
 
This year, the top fundraiser was Ryland Bricker, who alone contributed an impressive $38,416.36. Over six years, Ryland has raised more than $250,000 for LLS, cementing his role as a remarkable ambassador of the BMX spirit. Joining him in the top 10 fundraisers for 2024 were Chloe Holloway, Sean Coleman, Mason Berry, Everly Wilmore, Kaiden Saba, Charlie Schroeder, Axel Jimenez, Liam Winters, and Avery Adams. These dedicated riders earned special recognition and prizes from Box Components, showcasing their commitment and competitive spirit off the track. In total, 248 riders earned various prizes, including 93 riders who achieved the highest honor: having their entry fees covered for the prestigious USA BMX Grand Nationals. This reward reflects their exceptional efforts in both fundraising and dedication to the cause.
 
BMX tracks around the country played a pivotal role in this year&rsquo;s campaign success. Leading the charge were top fundraising tracks, including Egg Harbor Township BMX, Lincoln Park BMX, Waterford Oaks BMX, Steel Wheels BMX, and Moses Lake BMX. Each track not only rallied local communities but also brought awareness to the cause, underscoring the incredible power of grassroots engagement. Other tracks like Columbia Basin BMX, Park City BMX, Rockford BMX, Spokane BMX, and Chesapeake BMX also showcased inspiring dedication, providing riders with both a platform and motivation to reach their fundraising goals.
 
With USA BMX now established as top fundraisers for the Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Society, the Race for Life campaign exemplifies the BMX community&rsquo;s values of resilience, unity, and compassion. Each dollar raised brings hope to countless individuals affected by blood cancers and supports research that brings us closer to a cure. 2024 Race for Life Campaign Achieves New Milestones for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

At USA BMX and BMX Canada, we&rsquo;ve listened closely to the BMX community and we&rsquo;re thrilled to share some exciting updates for 2025!&nbsp; Our dedicated team, made up of lifelong BMX enthusiasts, has been actively engaging with riders, parents, volunteers, and track operators to find ways to improve the program. These updates are inspired by your valuable feedback, and we can&rsquo;t wait to roll them out for 2025!

<h4 dir="ltr">&nbsp;Proficiency Advancement&nbsp;</h4>
During COVID, thanks to dedicated volunteers across North America, BMX flourished while many sports faced extended shutdowns. Our tracks kept the sport alive by hosting events safely and attracting new riders who wanted to stay active. However, some of these riders have since returned to their original sport. One factor may be the rapid advancement in proficiency, which can make the sport feel challenging for newcomers. To address this, we&rsquo;ve talked with track operators across North America and are adjusting the criteria for advancement in 2025. Here&rsquo;s what&rsquo;s changing:
&nbsp;
Starting in 2025, wins will only count toward proficiency advancement if a rider beats at least two riders of the same age group and skill level, or better.

Ages 5 &amp; Under through 16: Riders must beat at least two others who are in their age group or older and at the same skill level or higher. 
</li>
<li dir="ltr">
Ages 17 &amp; Over: Riders must beat at least two others who are in their age group or younger and at the same skill level or higher.

This change aims to prevent riders from advancing too quickly due to "easy wins&rdquo;, supporting a more balanced progression.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Tracking wins will be easier, as nearly all races are submitted electronically. Results will be updated daily on our new website and the upcoming mobile app (launching early 2025). The website's Live Motos feature will also display each rider&rsquo;s age and skill level, so competitors and parents can see if a win qualifies.

<h4 dir="ltr">State/Provincial Championship Series</h4>
We&rsquo;ve heard from tracks and riders facing challenges due to their location, which sometimes limits their ability to compete in the series. Geographically, they may live closer to tracks in another state (or province) than their residence.Therefore, starting in 2025, we&rsquo;re introducing OPEN BORDERS for the Championship Series in all states and provinces. Any rider can compete and earn points for a series ranking within any state or province, regardless of residency.

Key Changes:

Point System: Points will be earned through SCR/PCR events and single-point races in the selected state or province where the rider is attempting to earn a ranking. 
</li>
<li dir="ltr">
Single-Point Race Impact Reduction: Single-point race contributions will be reduced by 47.5%, with only the top 4 single-point scores counted. An additional bonus of 1 point will be awarded for races 5 through 8. This adjustment lowers the potential impact for an Expert-level class from 160 points to 84 points.

<h4 dir="ltr">Racing Rules &ndash; Total Points for Single Group Classes</h4>
Starting in 2025, classes with 8 or less riders will switch to a total points system, where all riders in the class will race 3 times with the finish determined by lowest points. In the event of a tie, the final round will be the tie-breaker. In addition, all riders in the class will receive finish points based on that finish. Previously, in 4-8 rider classes, the last-place rider would receive &ldquo;rider points&rdquo; only instead of finish points as they would not transfer to the main event to earn a finish. This change will apply to all sanctioned events within USA BMX &amp; BMX Canada.
&nbsp;
This change benefits riders who continuously make an effort to support their local tracks, but may find themselves moved to a more challenging class. Now, even if you're combined into a tougher 4-8 rider class, you&rsquo;ll still earn finish points for your position instead of being limited to rider points.
 
<h4 dir="ltr">Timing &amp; Scoring</h4>
At USA BMX national events the following classes will be required to utilize a transponder for racing:
Men Pro Women Pro Vet Pro Pro Open SX Open Girls Expert Expert UCI CHALLENGE
Race Manager now has the ability to accept scoring data from the Sqorz software. With a simple API connection, the Race Manager scoring grid will accept the data provided that every rider within the moto has an active and working transponder.

At USA BMX and BMX Canada, we’ve listened closely to the BMX community and we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates for 2025!  Our dedicated team, made up of lifelong BMX enthusiasts, has been actively engaging with riders, parents, volunteers, and track operators to find ways to improve the program. These updates are inspired by your valuable feedback, and we can’t wait to roll them out for 2025!

2025 Rule Changes

A years worth of work gets them into their NAG and National battles on Sunday, but it&rsquo;s Friday night where these 50 racers line up in the gate to take on the NAG 5 Challenge. A race within the race brings competitors who normally wouldn&rsquo;t see each other on track into the most anticipated Amateur race of the year. With winners of the past going on to cement their names in the BMX history books, all 16 racers in the NAG 5 main events will be written down as racers to watch for the next coming years. With National Title Contedors and hungry newcomers into the National Age Group ranks, the 50 racers are ready to spark cheers and excitment.&nbsp;

2025 USA BMX Gold Cup Schedule

USA BMX is excited to announce a significant technological advancement for the 2025 National Series. Beginning next season, Pro Open, SX Open, Girl Expert, and Expert class races will adopt transponder scoring. This cutting-edge system joins the Men, Women, and Vet Pro classes in utilizing this innovative technology.
Rider Responsibility
All riders competing in the designated classes are responsible for purchasing and properly mounting a transponder on their forks. Ensuring the transponder is functional before entering the track is essential for accurate scoring and is the rider&rsquo;s responsibility. Further details regarding transponders will be provided in the 2025 Rulebook release. Seeking a National Timing Coordinator
To oversee the implementation and management of this new technology, USA BMX is actively seeking a qualified National Timing Coordinator. This position offers a unique opportunity to travel with the national circuit and play a pivotal role in the organization's success. The coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and deploying networking and timing solutions across the country.

<h4 dir="ltr">Rock Hill, SC - March 28-30</h4>
Almost a year after the World competed for glory, the BMX world returns to Rock Hill for more action at the BMX super facility. In partnership with the City of Rock Hill and Visit York County, Rock Hill BMX is set to highlight the up-and-comers of BMX with stacked rider points and bragging rights on the line.
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Golden State Nationals</h3>

<h4 dir="ltr">Bakersfield, CA - April 25-27</h4>
Train cars whip past, the forgotten bike hanging over the gate, and the water tower standing tall over the third turn; it&rsquo;s the Golden State Nationals at Metro BMX. Home to some of the fastest racers in modern BMX, Bakersfield brings California speed to the track as racers battle bar to bar, searching for their piece of the Golden State glory.&nbsp;
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Music City Nationals</h3>
<h4 dir="ltr">Stop 5 &amp; 6</h4>
<h4 dir="ltr">Nashville, TN - May 23-25</h4>
Get your cowboy hats ready, as the Music City Nationals bring high speeds to the drag strip for a Memorial Day classic. Cranking down the iconic Music City BMX starting hill, racers and families are greeted with constant action in the trees of Hamilton Creek. Just 30 minutes from downtown Nashville, the Music City Nationals produce great racing and even better memories of exploring Nashville.

<h4 dir="ltr">Albuquerque, NM - June 6-8</h4>
Enjoying the sights and sounds of New Mexico, the Spring Nationals are ready to have all the eyes on their dirt track racing action. Duke City BMX has been cultivating a big crew of dominant racers, making the 2025 Spring Nationals a must-race weekend as racers from across the country look to win under the Albuquerque roof.&nbsp;
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Land O&rsquo; Lakes Nationals</h3>
<h4 dir="ltr">Stop 9 &amp; 10</h4>
<h4 dir="ltr">St. Michael, MN - July 11-13</h4>
Tucked away in a neighborhood of St. Michael, MN, Crow River BMX is set to host the season&rsquo;s Land O&rsquo; Lakes Nationals. Surrounded by prime viewing around the track, the Crow River BMX volunteer group is taking their learned knowledge from 2023&rsquo;s National Weekend and putting it all into 2025. With great battles on the track and family fun in the park beside it, the Land O&rsquo; Lakes weekend is a must-race event.
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Derby City Nationals</h3>
<h4 dir="ltr">Stop 11 &amp; 12</h4>
<h4 dir="ltr">Louisville, KY - August 29-31</h4>
The World Famous Derby City BMX brings another show-stopping Labor Day weekend to BMX fans worldwide. As the Derby&rsquo;s First Call rings out throughout EP Tom Sawyer Park, the weekend racers utilize the fast descending track to their advantage in the latter part of the season.&nbsp;
 
<h3 dir="ltr">Northwest Gold Cup Finals</h3>

<h4 dir="ltr">SeaTac, WA - September 12-14</h4>
Revamped into a powerhouse track in the Northwest, SeaTac BMX brings golden opportunities to the region in 2025. Challenging racers through the track, SeaTac, WA, brings a track with a split-second straight and multiple lines down the third straight, allowing for racers of the region to battle bar to bar for the 2025 Gold Cup Finals while the pro classes will be showing their top speeds to a new demographic of BMX fans.

<h4 dir="ltr">Tulsa, OK - September 26-28</h4>
At the home of USA BMX, the BMX family returns to Tulsa for regional racing and Pro level battles. As the track and competition test the racer&rsquo;s abilities, the final podiums of the Gold Cup season stand proudly outside the National BMX Hall of Fame and Museum with Pro heroes racing right along side for podiums of their own.

<h4 dir="ltr">Pflugerville, TX - October 3-5</h4>
Just 22 minutes from the heart of Downtown Austin, the Texas Nationals return to Capitol City BMX for the second year in a row. Featuring a dog-legged final straight, Pflugerville, TX, is expected to see bar-banging action thanks in part to the partnership with Austin Sports, Travis County Parks, and the crew at Capitol City.
